Customized Living
One of my early life, I’d-like-to-be-friends-with
persons, had the name Rube Goldberg. Rube was a newspaper cartoonist whose
professional crest happened as I was just getting going on this globe, earth. His
legacy was still carrying on strong as I became a young lad. He was famous for
creating cartoon situations where elaborate homemade gadgets achieved amazing
successes. He created an eponymous phrase about fixing something around the
house by “doing a Rube Goldberg fix”, like using a paper clip for an electrical
repair, tin foil to help old time TV reception or duct tape for anything.
Rube lives with me in Vilia. Our
5th wheel trailer RV. I have found that one of the very enjoyable parts
of this journey is settling into systems. How we mount the bikes for travel, a
hook for a mirror in the shower for shaving, my little cubby hole setup for
making the AM coffee, and so much more for our RV life.
We are not nearly done yet. It
seems every day a new Rube Goldberg fix gets employed. Thanks Rube!!
