So Cathy takes my picture as I was walking around this amazing area of volcanic material within Big Bend. The white is Tuff, compressed volcanic ash. Soils with volcanic ash are found in Napa Valley. Some vineyards that are planted in it have produced some very interesting and complexly flavored wines. Vines would not make it in this harsh climate, but that does not concern me, what does is the monster petrified dinosaur with the ship eating grin looming over the ridge! Yikes!
