The Hitchhiker
OK, no lie. We saw this today. Just
outside Alamogordo NM on the road which goes back to Las Cruces NM, (where we had just come from yesterday), and is 50 something miles
away. We saw a cowboy. Nice Brown felt cowboy hat. Jeans, western shirt. Looked real. Believe
he was. Hitchhiking and had a sign like a street corner homeless sign in magic marker
on a piece of cardboard that said “need ride to Las Cruces.”
The thing was, the dude had a
saddled horse with him. Held by a stirrup in his hand. Fully saddled this horse
was. He was hitchhiking with a horse!!! I don’t know these parts, being a
transient, but, doesn’t that limit your ride opportunities, the horse? Sure
wish we stopped to take a picture. It had no appearance that it was a joke or
promo, and this part of the world does not have the audience to do jokes or
promos like that.
Cowboy and horse hitchhiking…I
love the USA.
I'm just wondering why he didn't ride the horse back to Las Cruces, I mean that's what cowboys do, right?
ReplyDeleteYou should have stopped, there is more to this story
ReplyDeletePerhaps not, John Poltrack. A possibility he was a highway robber poised to hijack the stagecoach.
